Up Up and Away! Heritage Heroes Campaign Celebrates How RESPs Benefit Everyday Canadians
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Heritage Education Funds is launching Heritage Heroes, a digital series of over 30 in-depth, coast-to-coast features on recent and not-so-recent graduates and students that have used or are currently using a Heritage RESP to kick-start their careers — minus the burden of student debt. Video features will showcase what they’ve accomplished so far in their field of practice/study and community, what they hope to achieve in the future, and how RESPs have given them a leg up.
Over the years, generations of Canadian students have used Heritage RESPs to help them realize their dreams of a post-secondary education. Heritage Education Funds’ ultimate goal has always been to make college and university affordable for every child by offering a financial plan that sees contributed funds matched with government grants as they grow tax-sheltered until the plan matures.
“RESPs are an incredible opportunity for everyday Canadians to leverage a post-secondary education and minimize the chance of student debt,” said Jason Maguire, President & CEO, Heritage Education Funds. “We’re inspired by the accomplishments of our 2017 Heritage Heroes and look forward to more students making their dreams happen down the road. RESPs represent one of the best things both parents and grandparents can do for the children in their lives – they speak to the partnership of generations.”
“The Heroes campaign is our way of applauding the success and accomplishments of these talented Heritage Heroes from across Canada,” said Michelle Korson, Director of Marketing, Heritage Education Funds. “They truly have achieved far more than they ever thought was possible. Beyond completing their education, these heroes have accomplished everything from winning academic awards and studying abroad, to starting businesses, funding their passions in the arts and competing in prestigious robotics competitions. They are an inspiring example of what is possible when an RESP is leveraged for future success.”
Heritage is showcasing the inspiring and motivating success stories of 30+ Heroes from coast-to-coast, including the following six Heritage Hero video features:
- Maria Hilario from Vancouver, BC – Fashion Designer and Graduate of Wilson School of Design
- Sean Leonard from St. John’s, NL – Medical Student at Memorial University of Newfoundland
