Meet a Heritage Hero: Chris Tse
Meet Chris, one of our Heritage Heroes. Chris is a second-year PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) Student at the University of Toronto in Ontario. After volunteering in hospitals at dialysis clinics throughout his undergraduate years, he realized how much he wanted a career in the healthcare field where he could help others and change their lives for the better. This past summer, Chris completed a placement as a pharmacist at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Toronto before returning to school in the fall.
Chris answered a few of our Heritage Heroes questions…
ON HIS CAREER CHOICE:
As a kid, I never knew exactly what my path was going to be but I knew I just wanted to make people happy, and nowadays when I work in the pharmacy, I feel like I get to do that every day.
ON HAVING A HERITAGE RESP:
“As a student, you have to put your studies first, if possible. The RESP gave me the opportunity to really focus on my studies and not have to worry about always holding down a part-time job or worrying about student debt. It also helped me graduate with no student debt from my undergraduate degree.”
ON HIS MENTOR:
“My Mom has been the most influential person in my life; she works in immigration and has completely changed many people’s lives for the better. I hope to have the same impact on the people around me someday.”
ON HIS BIGGEST ACADEMIC CHALLENGE:
“My biggest academic challenge to date has been going through admissions for pharmacy school. It required maintaining a reasonable GPA, getting a good score on the PCAT (Pharmacy College Admission Test), and practicing for the admission interviews.”
Thanks to Chris for his participation and for being one of our Heritage Heroes. We can’t wait to see where his future endeavours take him!
